Liquidity
is the ability to convert assets into cash that can be used to pay liabilities. Short-term liquidity primarily means a company’s ability to sell inventory, collect trade receivables and other short-term receivables, and have sufficient cash in bank accounts to pay its short-term liabilities. A company is liquid if it has the money to pay its short-term liabilities on time without delays. Excessive liquidity is usually caused by high equity and is indicative of a conservative approach. On the other hand, a company with low liquidity relies on external resources for financing.
